Actor Daniel Mickelson, known for his performances in The Killer Clown Meets the Candy Man and the series Mani, has died. The rising star passed away this Fourth of July weekend, his sister, model Meredith Mickelson, announced. No further details have been made public at this time. He was 23.
“My heart is shattered & to write this feels so wrong and i don’t even know what to say,” Meredith wrote in a July 5 Instagram caption with an old photo of the siblings. “Yesterday i lost my brother, best friend & the other half of my heart.”
Mickelson, a native of Atlanta, was best known for playing Billy on the kids series Mani in 2019.
“There wasn’t a person i loved more on this earth,” his sister continued in her post. “theres no words that can do him justice that i could write. to know him was to love him. he was the happiest brightest smiley most sunshine human to exist and I’m so happy God chose me to be his sister for his whole amazing life.”
Stars were quick to pay tribute to their late friend, with folks like Kaia Gerber, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Paris Hilton remembering Mickelson on social media.
“I remember that time we sat on the couch and spent the whole day coming up with our own secret language that we continued to speak every time we saw each other,” wrote Gerber, per E! News. “I wish we could go back there. I wish we were still talking in sentences that probably annoyed everyone else but made us crack up every time.”
Schwarzenegger, actor and son of action movie legend Arnold Schwarzenegger, sent his condolences under Mickelson’s tribute, writing, “Praying for you.” Taking to her Instagram story, Hilton honored Daniel, writing in a post that he was “such a light.”
A week before Mickelson’s death, the actor had posted Instagram photos of himself hiking in Hawaii. He posted TikTok clips of him and his girlfriend Maddie Haley, who also shared a farewell to Mickelson on Instagram.
“I don’t want this to be real. Words can’t even describe how I’m feeling right now,” she wrote. “Last night I lost my bestfriend in the whole world. I feel like my hearts been ripped out of my chest.”
