Married At First Sight's Cheryl Maitland looks very different these days

May 2024 · 3 minute read

She became the breakout star of Married At First Sight‘s fourth season thanks to her controversial love triangle with Jonathan Troughton and Andrew ‘Jonesy’ Jones.

But Cheryl Maitland looks very different these days, after shunning the spotlight in favour of a quieter life in Queensland.

The influencer resurfaced on Instagram on Tuesday to show off her transformation, after undergoing a range of cosmetic procedures.

Cheryl, 30, had sported a stronger jawline and very plump lips on MAFS in 2017.

Her eyebrows also sat lower on her face, and her chin jutted out at a pointier angle.

Cheryl received criticism for her appearance at the time, with fellow bride Michelle Marsh even referring to her as a ‘Shrek princess’ in the first episode.

The former brunette has also transformed her hair by getting it dyed a lighter colour.

Meanwhile, Cheryl has been open about her use of filler and Botox in the past.

In 2019, she admitted she was unhappy with her appearance and had chosen to dissolve her filler in order to achieve a more natural look.

Posting a series of before-and-after photos to Instagram, Cheryl explained: ‘ATTENTION LADIES. After visiting another clinic on the Gold Coast and not being happy with my results I decided to go get consults elsewhere.’

Cheryl said she felt ‘overdone and horrible’ after noticing she had ‘so many lumps’ in her lips and that the Botox in her forehead wasn’t ‘done correctly’.

After finally finding a cosmetic injector she liked, Cheryl said: ‘We decided to dissolve all my lip filler and focus on my chin and smaller lips and honestly I’ve never been so happy and confident with my overall look.’

‘All other injectors said they would put more in my lips. Bigger lips isn’t always the best look as you can see in my before-and-afters,’ she added.

She changed her look again in January this year by getting porcelain veneers.

‘It’s something I wanted done, and I’m so happy with the results,’ she wrote on Instagram next to before-and-after images of her new smile.

On MAFS, Cheryl ‘married’ on-screen husband Jonathan Troughton, but the pair didn’t make it past the first commitment ceremony.

The Scottish-born reality star was allowed to date fellow participant Andrew ‘Jonesy’ Jones, who had been ditched by his bride earlier on the series.

But they failed to spark a romance, leaving Cheryl again single and heartbroken.

After MAFS Cheryl began dating Melbourne plumber Dean Gibbs after in March 2017 and the couple have been together ever since.
