I certainly hope that the Rangers honor the legacy of Rod Gilbert by having all of their players wear a No. 7 patch on their game jerseys throughout the 2020-21 season just as the Red Wings wore a No. 9 patch memorializing Gordie Howe in 2016-17.
A No. 7 sticker on the back of their helmets won’t do.
Take it for what it’s worth, but I can’t tell you how disappointing it was that no current Rangers player attended Gilbert’s funeral mass last Wednesday morning.
