Professional American golfer John Cook currently plays on the PGA Tour Champion and serves as a studio analyst on Golf Channel, an American sports television network.

In Toledo, Ohio, he was born to PGA Tour official Jim Cook. John grew up in Southern California. He graduated in 1976 from Miraleste High School in Rancho Talos Verdes.

Besides golfing, John was an aspiring but undersized quarterback in football through his sophomore year. Later, his high school golf coach encouraged him to concentrate on golf.

Wilbur Luca, the coach, later stated that it was the only moment of his life when he suggested an athlete drop a sport. Former PGA Tour star Ken Venturi also coached John in his earlier years.

Cook is currently a glad occupant of Windermere, Florida. He leads a happy and prosperous life alongside his wife Jan and three amazing children.
