Get ready to deck the halls and jingle some bells because Starbucks is heralding the official start of the holiday season with the earliest ever release of its famed red cups. 

The coffee giant unveiled a sneak peek at this year’s holiday designs on Wednesday morning, revealing that the seasonal cups will hit stores on November 4 – when it will also launch its first-ever non-dairy festive drink, an iced sugar cookie almond milk latte. 

Although all of Starbucks classic Christmas drinks can be made with a dairy-free alternative, the new beverage – which was inspired by freshly-baked holiday cookies – is the first that the chain has launched specifically with a non-dairy milk. 

It will feature sugar-cookie flavored syrup, Starbucks Blonde Espresso, ice, and almond milk – and it will then be topped with red and green sprinkles for an added festive flair. The drink will also be available as a hot beverage.

In addition to the new beverage, Starbucks will also bring back many of its classic holiday offerings, including the peppermint mocha, caramel brulée latte, chestnut praline latte, toasted white chocolate mocha, and Irish cream cold brew.  

The brand has also added a fun festive edge to its red cups this year in the form of lilac glitter, which has been incorporated into each design in a different way. 

According to the Seattle-based company, each of this year’s four holiday cup designs were inspired by a different aspect of the festive season: wrapping paper, ribbon, holiday lights, and candy canes. 

The ribbon cup is meant to ‘evoke a familiar moment of the season, with pieces of ribbon in white and iridescent lilac playfully dancing against a red field of sparkles, like when you’ve just finished wrapping up gifts for friends and family’.

As for the wrapping paper cup, it was inspired by ‘a perfectly wrapped gift’ and it features ‘a colorful geometric pattern of circles, sparkles and glitter grain in the season’s signature shades’.

Starbucks describes the candy cane cup as looking ‘as delicious as a peppermint mocha… with candy stripes of green, white, and lilac’ alternating with the brand’s name.

Finally, the holiday lights cup is meant to represent ‘stars on a clear winter’s night’ with ‘sparkling holiday lights’ that ‘peek out amid a swirl of ribbons and a jumble of bold, graphic letters that spell out “Starbucks”’. 

The four cups also feature a gift tag on the back, where customers can pen a message to a loved one – or simply add their name. 

‘This holiday, we wanted it to feel magical, we wanted it to be warm, and we wanted it to be inclusive,’ Starbucks associated creative director Suzie Reecer said of the new designs. 

‘Our goal was to really bring joy to every customer and every partner.’

As well as the festive cups and beverages, Starbucks with also inject a bit of holiday cheer into its food menu with the launch of a new reindeer-shaped cake pop, which will be available on Thursday along with other old favorites like the sugar plum cheese Danish, cranberry bliss bar, and snowman cookie.
