A customer has been left shocked to find that the $35 (AUD $51) lobster roll she ordered from a restaurant came deconstructed and undercooked.

Hannah, from California, shared a picture of her meal on an online forum dedicated to showcasing the difference between what people ordered versus what they actually received.

‘The lobster was still frozen,’ she wrote, after ordering a brioche lobster roll grilled with herbed butter, lobster knuckle, and claw meat.

The dish was supposed to come served with tarragon lobster roll dressing, Creole seasoning, and truffle chips.

But the meal she received was far from what was advertised.

Hannah received two brioche rolls, lobster meat and dressing in little containers, and a handful of truffle chips in a plastic bag along with mini packets of mayonnaise, Creole seasoning, and tabasco sauce.

When she took the food back to the vendor to point out the discrepancy, Hannah was met with some resistance.

‘I took it right back to the window and no apology, just a measly “oh” to my face,’ Hannah said.

‘They put it on the grill for a few seconds, then back on the bread. He asked if I wanted butter – you know, the butter that’s supposed to come on it to begin with – and I said yes.’

She added, ‘Then, he asked what else I wanted on it, and I said I expected everything it came with. And the chef said they didn’t dress it beforehand because it would congeal, and they like to give everyone the chance to make their own choices. But I was still unimpressed!’

The post receive hundreds of comments with several people similarly outraged at the situation.

‘What is this, Hello Fresh?’ a woman asked angrily.

She added, ‘They gave you a plate of ingredients to make your own meal. I would have walked right out!’

‘That’s the most expensive Lunchable I’ve ever seen,’ joked another woman. ‘Seriously though, I’m sorry that happened.’

‘That’s so awful – it’s practically a food poisoning DIY kit!’

‘Where did you get this?’ another woman asked. ‘IKEA?’
