Adrian Peterson will be on the football field Sunday night. He could be resting up between appearances on “Dancing with the Stars.”
The ABC show called Peterson in September with a $150,000 offer for the rehearsal period, and the chance to make up to $335,000, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The running back reportedly turned them down because he thought he may have a chance to sign with the Ravens.
That didn’t work out, but Peterson is playing NFL football this year anyway. He signed with the Titans earlier this week following Derrick Henry’s foot injury, which could keep him out the rest of the season. Peterson makes his Tennessee debut against the Rams on Sunday night.
The 36-year old last played with the Lions in 2020, rushing for 604 yards on 3.9 per carry. His production had taken a noticeable dip since leaving the Vikings after the 2016 season.

It’s unclear how much run Peterson will get. Jeremy McNichols has been the Titans’ backup all year, but with Henry taking a league-leading 219 carries, the title of backup has been mostly honorific.
McNichols has just seven carries all year for 38 yards. He’s mostly been deployed as a pass-catcher, with 21 receptions for 203 yards.
Peterson hadn’t been practicing with an NFL team until this week, but told reporters that he was “practicing at all times” while at home.
If nothing else, he’s clearly motivated to play football. Otherwise, we’d be learning about his tango skills instead of speculating on how much he has left in the tank.
